could i be that are two computers are not on the same ? (compatable)

or is it that my dads computer ,his router is not broadcasting a signal

or is it because the belkin is not compatible with the speedstream router.

i'm lost,please help

if the router works at 802.11b/g and your belkin works on the same frequency it should be fine you need to find your network key or network name and if you have a password for the network ie wep or wpa

Exactly...

By default the router should not have a WPA or and security. There for you will need to log into the router's config page using a computer that is connected to it.

1, Make sure that your adaptor is in infracture, and not ad hoc, ad hoc is one computer to another computer not what you want.

2, As said log onto the routers config and look to see if the wireless is active and not disabled. (recomended that you should make a WPA-PSK (Wi-Fi Protected Access Pre-Shared Key). Do not select WEP, this is wired equivalent protection.

He should at least find the router even if it has a security key

Im sure that they are both 54G, meaning that they are both running at the same 2.4 frequency.
