I was talking to someone (I can't remember who) about this device that they have. It's some kind of stand alone hard drive, the one he mentioned was 2tb. Anyway, he had it in his house somehow connected to his home network. He could access this device via his home pc, cell, and remotely from his work pc. He said his home pc doesn't even need to be turned on for him to access his files on this device.

Can someone please tell me what this might be, where I might find one or what I need to build one myself???

NAS Box? Or perhaps one of those external HDDs which allows you to connect remotely?

Just search for them online.
