Ok, its done it a few times now in the last 20 mins, My monitor just flashes balnk(black) for like a 1000th of a second.

This is a 17" LG Studioworks 775SE..... Its a good monitor and i dont expect it to blow on me.... Is it likely to be my monitor or gfx card, i checked the gfx temps, steady at 40C as it always is....

Im only running at 1024 x 768 @ 80Hz, should i take the ref rate down to like 70Hz or something, or what???

Any help is greatly appreciated, i just spent crap loads on new tools and stuff for a mod, i dont wanna have ta scrap it all and buy a monitor instead....

i do believe that is the beginning of the end for your monitor... if you can deal with the flicker it should be ok for a while but it will only get worse.
i dont know if changing the resolution will do anything for you.
i wouldn't say that its due to a capacitor because they tend to screw with the image rather than make it flicker. my old monitor used to make a loud click noise (like static) and the screen would go blurry for a fraction of a second.

if you cant live with it, it looks like you need a new monitor

ah man, they are so expensive for such the little task that they do, its not like a CPU where you can justify spending hundreds, really monitors should be dead cheap, especially CRT's.... I only bought this monitor like 5 months ago....

did you buy it new?

If so you can take it back. :)

afraid not, got it on eBay, but still, its a good quality screen, and its not taht old..... All my other monitors, like the 15" running on my old Pc, have been around for like 5+ years.

Yeah, monitors typically last a good while. I have my first monitor I purchased back in 98 still. It works great but it's got a short in the wire. I also have a 17" I'm saving if anything goes wrong with this LCD.

If you look around, you can find good deals on monitors. This 17" CRT I got from my uncle when he upgraded along with his old computer(which wasn't worth anything :P)

well, if i complain enough the parents will probably help me out a bit..... seeing as i do everything on this computer..... and i manage their business website through here, so business will stop if i cant see anything, lol. HE HE, i think this could well work to my advantage......

Hahahahaa! You spent the money for your modding materials yet? If not, they'll probably say buy a new one with that.

Ive bought half of it, spent about £25. Bloody £18 on a sheet of acrylic, lol, damn overpriced..... I estimate this to cost around £50, its expensive, but thats cos im buying all these tools aswell, if i do future mods i wont have to pay for those again, and im sure they will come in handy for something else too......

We'll see how the monitor goes, its been on for about 2 hours and hasnt done it yet, perhaps it only does it when ti been on like 6-7 hours. Its left on constantly all day, cos im always doing stuff on the PC, cant help it....

Well, yeh i do after about 30 mins, but im never away from the Pc for longer than 30 mins, so it usually never goes on standby...... i suppose i should turn it to like 10 mins or soemthing but what if im looking at something on screen and writing it up by hand or something then it'll go off, that'll be annoying....
