I feel like I wasted my money

I upgraded my computer 2-3 weeks ago and this is what I upgraded

Nvidia motherboard -> Gigabyte motherboard
AMD 64 3500+ @ 2.2ghz (single core) -> AMD 64 x2 6000+ @3.1 GHz stock @ 3.2 GHz overclocked (dual core)
2 x 512 MB DDR Kingston RAM -> 2 x 1GB DDR2 Kingston RAM
7600 gt Nvidia Palit -> 9600 gt Nvidia Palit 1GB 700/1750/2000 stock @ 720/1800/2050 overclocked

Now I'm happy with everything except my graphics card. I upgraded mine and most people seem to have a better one... I also had to upgrade my PSU to 500w.

I might save up for a new one so I can get one somewhere next year but I'd also need a new PSU probably, and it would maybe bottleneck my CPU.

I've only got about 150 pln (polish money) and my gfx card costed about 500 + 180 for PSU. With x-mas and my birthday (january 7th) around the corner I should get about 800-1000 PLN so I will have money for a gfx card (ofc I wont upgrade when I get it but when I need to.

I run cod4 at smooth fps with almost all settings on high and sometimes in campain in HEAVY combat I felt it drop to 25-30 but usually its high and I can't feel it.

I might get some better games in the future where I will need to upgrade my gfx card.

What do you guys think?

Is 9600 GT a decent gfx card?

I usually play at 1280 x 1024 or 800 x 600

17" monitor here

I don't need maxed out but I'd like somewhat high video settings

I would recommend looking into the 9800GTX+ line of cards, or if you have got the money, I for one GTX 200 series. My GTX 260 is a beast, I believe I'll be set for some time.

By the time I have the money and I need to upgrade it will be around summer? Maybe even next christmas depending on if I need to upgrade.

The 9800 gtx+ will be shit then.

If you want to keep up with the market then, buy a GTX 280, and upgrade your PSU. Liberal estimates suggests that GTX 280 is going to have an 16 month run.

Although it of course depends on your definition of "good games" but man, there are always games on the horizon that need a good graphics card. Starcraft 2 *drool*

A 4870 only needs a 550 watt and a 4850 only requires a 450 watt, both would be an upgrade.
