Sorry newguy5. i always thought XP was as good as it gets.
What operating system you using? you would have hated a dos based proggy like 98 2nd edition or even worse windows 3.1.
the detection process has always been good. i would uninstall all hardware associated with the camera and leave it off. reboot and clean the reg with ccleaner and regseeker which is freeware. reboot again and after startup plug in the camera.
you shouldnt hate windows just because it wont recognize your camera. As speedyink said, go to the device manager and uninstall previous camera detections. If you have to many drivers for the same device, it will tend to screw up your computer.
