ohkay I currently have an HP Pavilion 733n with a crappy mobo (specs below)

Basically im trying to run WoW on a budget. I first wanted to change proc's but the best AMD offers for a socket A that ive found is the same duron thats already in the mobo stock (266mhz ugh). So then I thought, why not switch the mobo but then I realised the video card is built in to the damn mobo anyways so that ruled out saving money and now im stuck.

What would one of you guys out there do with around 200-300 bucks to replace somethign on my 733n to get it running pretty fast to run WoW quite smoothly?

Heres the desktop specs also below

Thanks

Tigerdirect offers a great service by bundling a motherboard with a compatible cpu and selling them together for one price (http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/Category/category_tlc.asp?CatId=14 ). You can usually find some pretty good deals and an upgraded cpu should def. offer some more speed. Like the chef said though, make sure you find a micro atx motherboard there.

Here's a pretty decent deal for you that doesn't require you buying a video card.

This motherboard comes with an AMD 64 bit cpu and fan. It also has an on board VGA port for your monitor and only costs $180 so you have some money left over for more ram, better heatsink, or a video card if you want one. You may be able to find a better deal there... I just found that after some quick searching.

nooooooooo...unless you know what youre doing, and you want to run on a budget, get something as built as possible. if you go barebones, youll spend a lot of money on everything else. i added up everything ive put into my computer, and it came out to about 800...thats including the fact that i have a refurbished cpu, and a couple of different rebates. i dont even have a good monitor...its like some crappy 15 inch crt for now. it ADDS UP!

JEEEEZ! yeah I actually have enough money to build an insane rig ringing in at about $2000 but a car is mor important to me than a computer at least for now heh. So yeah, the more money I save, the closer I get to my car

Yeah, Krimson is right, I wouldn't go with a bearbones system/kit unless you are willing to put a little more than $200-300 into a computer system. For what it's worth though, I was in the same boat as you are in right now and I'll tell you what I did:

I bought a computer case (ATX...because my old computer was micro) and a motherboard/cpu combo from tigerdirect and just transfered everything else from my old computer to my new case. It wasn't that great of a system but it gave me room to expand so as I got more money, I upgraded part by part. Now I have a completely different pc than I had originally. The only bad thing is that it took so much time that now that I am finally finished, the first things I upgraded (motherboard and cpu) are out of date and iupgrading my computer hardware is becomming a continuous process.

Either way, good luck.

those are ATX. but with the savings you could snag a case off of newegg with a 400W PS and just work from there!
