It does look good but just isnt seeming to perform games-wise. e.g. Has problems running BF2 at above 30fps online and 800x640

Any tips p.s. i am relatively new to this game

Yeh

Well your graphics card is not something super duper these days.

To render graphics, the 8300 uses an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro graphics board with 128MB of memory.

As well as that, BF2 is a very demanding game.

yeah sorry i forgot to say i had a 128mb graphics card.

but i still fail t osee why it is such crappy fps....

I think it could also be to do with the software side of things...

any tips to spee my comp up??

exactly what graphics card is it because it could be an old 128Mg Geforce 4 or something, which obviously isnt going to perform well. on the other hand it could well be a 128Mb geforce 6800?

try updating the drivers. If the boards a VIA chpset then update the 4in1 drivers. When i first got my laptop, games were not running up to scratch, i updated the 4in1 and things got a lot faster.

i dont think its that cos my comp has been running slowly anyway even when not in games..

The only time it seems to perform well is if it i have recently reinstalled windows

thats best you are going to do with a radeon 9800 pro. if the x850xt and the 7800 gtx SLI can't get 100 fps, your radeon 9800 pro wont even go near.

maybe you have alot of spyware/programs running in the background slowing you down. you should post a HiJackThis Log

because of being such a demanding game, you may need to close multiple programs to get a better fps rate from the game. I dont know what u have on ur computer, but look to see what programs are running int he background....simple solution to improve the performance.

Ok the rest of the spec breakdown can be found here

The videocard, the 9800Pro, while very good for last generation games ... will definitely have issues playing a game like BF2 at max settings -- although 800x600 is hardly what i would consider max settings.

1. For starters, what drvier version are you using with the card?
2. What detail settings are you running at? I would hazard a guess that anything past 800x600 medium wil give you framerate issues
