I have a corrupt registry, how do I fix it?

I have recieved alot of great info from the forum peeps. I have one last issue. I placed this info in a different forum, but i did not get a respond. I feel this would be a better place for it.
I have problems with my CDRW/DVD drives. They do not work. When I place cd's in I can hear the machine trying to read the drivers but they do not work. When going to device manager, the icon for CD/DVD are not there under hardware. I did find a small yellow alert code next to IDE Seconday Channel well one of them) that says "code 19, the registry is corrupt" I am not able to fix this issue, neither can Microsoft. I really don't want to pay HP $100.00 just to have them to walk me through what is the problem, and try to fix it. Can someone please help me with this issue, and NO i am not double posting!

Try running a program like: Eusing Free Registry Cleaner

To clean it and see if that helps :)

Back sure to make a backup before you change anything.

In Eusing Free Registry Cleaner go to File>Backup Full Registry> then name it something like "Full Registry Backup" and then if anything goes wong with cleaning up the registry you have a backup of one that at least works. :)

ya, ccleaner doesn't really find corruptions, and mistakes, but it's great for clearing void registry entries out after you uninstall a program, and it only takes a few seconds

probably wont do the trick if you have an actual PROBLEM, tho
