Hi everybody , I have this dell laptop, and the Hitachi DVD ROM GD-S200 drive is not being recognised by it anymore. It was working fine for 2 years ! I installed a few drivers the previous night; needed for my Cannon MiniDV Camcorder software .

I guess it has stopped recognizing the DVD ROM drive because the drivers are somehow uninstalled . I have been trying to find the drivers desperately, but I wasnt successful . download.com , hitachi website both didnt give me anything.

Please help me if u can,.

Perhaps...

Perhaps you've looked at the wrong places for the drivers. Try looking for it on Dell.com. They have "reinstallation" drivers for most of their products. And if you cannot find what you are looking for, Dell also has a forum where you can post your problem, and of course, they hire people to answer them for you. You may have to find your way thru Dell's web maze to find the forum link. I believe it's in the Support>Downloads>Others section.

Do you mean it stoped showing up in my computer and explorer.

If this is true try method 1 to fix it on the following website if that does not work try method 2.

sometimes when you add other drivers it affects the cd/dvd drives and to fix it you need to delete those 2 registry values.
