I Have A Virus. Please Help!!!

I have about 100 different contacts on msn messenger of whom 7 or so are online at any one time. Earlier today I recieved an instant message from one of my contancts asking me to click a link in order to download a file. STUUUUUUPIDLY I click the link, downloaded the file and clicked the newly downloaded file. As soon as I did so a new chat window opened up for each of my msn contacts who were online at the time. Each window contained the same link that I had just clicked on.

My firewall then created a popup window that asked me if I wanted to allow a program called wininit32.exe to access the internet. I made sure that all access was blocked....Thank God I did because a mate of mine on msn allowed the program to access the net and now his hard drive has been wiped.

I have searched the net for a resolution to this problem but I can't find anything definitive. Does anyone know how I can remove this worm before it buggers my hard drive???

Please respond quickly.

Thanks in advance!

or the best way is too reformat your computer. Save everything on disk first. lol. Next time stay away from messengers of person that you dont know. Especially websites that comes with the person's messenger. oh by the way, Stay away from porn sites too. They kill your computer instantly.

I have run a full virus scan with McAfee and have scanned with spybot and adaware. I have done a deep scan on both occasions. I found nothing on my PC. However, my PC is still not running correctly. When I check system performance in the task manager, it shows that my CPU usage is at about 50% prety much constantly. It used ot potter along at about 55 when idle.

in task manager, click processes. there will be 4 colums, image name, user name, cpu and mem usage. in the cpu column it tells you the percentage of cpu a file is using.

you have a nasty virus, please follow the manual removal instuctions from trendmicro:
http://www.trendmicro.com/vinfo/virusencyclo/default5.asp?VName=WORM_SDBOT.CG&VSect=Sn

also, you can remove these as well:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Microsoft Update 64 BIT] wininit32.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [Microsoft Update 64 BIT] wininit32.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Windoxs Update Center] W32RfSA.exe

AND... post another HijackThis log after your done, we need to finish with the clean up afterwards. :)

Praetor, how are you so sure that I should delete the files that you just posted?

"C:\PROGRA~1\BTBROA~2\SMARTB~1\BTHelpNotifier.exe" BT is my ISP. Dare I delete that entry? I might mess up my net connection.

i think he wants you to delete only the highlighted part of the log,
i.e.
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Windoxs Update Center] W32RfSA.exe

or the highlighted is a must to get rid of, the rest are just annoyances. i know most of them are, ie. qttask.exe, realshced.exe,nerocheck.exe etc

Spot on. All the others are unnecessary startup entries.

they can be removed using msconfig itself actually,
anyways, yeah it is a a nag to see startup being slowed down by these,
esp realsched.exe, the damn thing keeps coming back into the processes window
