i have a weird problem with my computer.

i just built this computer and its very fast and i love it.

i get on in the morning, play cod mw2, and crysis. full settings, no problem.

i go to work

come home and the comp turns on, seems to be fine but no picture is coming up on the screen. its not just black, but the monitor says there is no input connected.

it first happened the first night i finished building it. woke up late night because i was downloading wow. seen it was off and it wasnt brining up any picture when i turned it back off.

woke up the next morning and it was fine.

few days later i was playing crysis, i got some weird fps and it went to a blue screen and turned off. did it again. though 15 mins later it started working.

so yea it decides to work half the time and i have no idea whats going on. is it failing on me?
 
Are you sure the memory is good and seated fully in the slots?

Could be a faulty video card also.

So the video cable(s) have any major bends in them?
 
This sounds weird but it could also be your south bridge going out. A client of mine had the same problems then one morning she woke up and the computer wouldn't turn on. I opened it up and a hole was shot right through the south bridge. Check your temps and make sure they are at a decent level.
 
well the ram is a two corsair ddr3 2g ram. and it seems to be in fine.

if anything i assume its just the video card.

last night when this happened, i took out the video card completely, then put into into the other slot that would fit into it.
it then started working, but yea now its doing it again so i have no idea, its just weird and annoying.

i just hate knowing that i really dont know what it is. dont want to buy another radeon 5770 just to find that, that isnt even the problem.
 
oohhmmyygoood.

went back in, and picture is showing up on the monitor. now it works. so idk wtf is going on. it will probably do the same thing tomorrow night lol.
 
well yesterday i was on the comp for most of the day, and it went smoothly. no problems at all.
though this morning i turn it on and it went fine, but i left it alone and had to leave the house for about 30 mins. i come home to find its done the same thing again.

leaving it alone while its on has made this problem happen 4/5 times i believe. is sleep mode making something go wrong? can i stop it from doing it and see if it helps? also the mouse red light, and my keyboard lights will not turn on when the comp is on, when this problem is happening

oh and my comp specs are
gigabyte p55-ud6 motherboard
radeon xfx 5770 g card
corsair ddr3 2x2g ram
corsair 750w power supply
1tb wd hard drive
 
Well my recommendation would be just not to fiddle around with the Gpu and so on until you really know what you're doing. Is this where you have the GPU placed in?
 
yea i had it in the one under it but now in that one.

though i seem to find a quick solution to fix it, but not something to permantly fix it.

it just did it again and i unpluged the cord from the wall, usually there is some lights left on from the motherboard when the computer is turned off. when i waited for those lights to turn off i plugged it back in and the monitor started working again.

so yea, idk what this can show the actual reason its doing this but yea....
 
It sounds to me like the GPU is overheating or otherwise malfunctioning - that's the only explanation for the on-again off-again behavior that I can think of... post your temps at boot-up and then after an hour.

Make sense to anyone else? Also - try disabling sleep-mode/standby/screensaver/anything else that would turn off the monitor or throw an error for a day just to eliminate that as the problem.
 
specs are:
gigabyte p55-ud6 motherboard
xfx radeon 5770 v card
corsiar 750w power supply
corsiar 2x2g ddr3 ram
coolmaster full tower case 932
WD 1tb 7200 hard drive
intel core 15 processor

but i dont see it being the video card, there is ALOT of room in the case for air flow, 4 huge fans in the case itself and the vcard fan is running fine.

the problem fixes when i unplug the comp from the wall when its off and the motherboard lights go off, then plug it back in.

a few days ago i played ALOT of wow, crysis and cod mw2, and if its a heating problem, then im sure the comp couldnt of lasted 10 hours being on.

when its happened for being on for 30 mins, then going into sleep mode. though sometimes i dont get the problem when it does.

so idk.
 
Again, disable sleep-mode, standby and screensavers and let the computer run for a day and see if the problem persists. Then let us know. Also, it wouldn't hurt to check the temps.
