i hear the original DOOM doesnt run well on XP

ive had a craving for some time now to play the original DOOM and DOOM II. so i found the game online and downloaded it, but when i run it its incredibly choppy. ill tell you now its not my hardware. i think i read some where it DOS doesnt work well on XP, is there anyway to get the game running smooth? i even tried changing the priority, did nothing.

First try running it in compatibility mode. Right click DOOM, properties, compatibility, check the "run this program in compatibility mode for" then Windows95.

If it still doesn't run well then you'll need to check out the free utility DOSbox (google it).
