I Just got an HP touchscreen laptop for an early christmas present and I was wondering what I'm supposed to use the touchscreen for?

Whatever you want. I find touchscreens on laptops to be pointless myself.

How do you know if a laptop is refurbished or not?

Normally some manufacturers put a refurbished sticker on the bottom of the laptop, but not everyone does that.

Some products, while being refurbished, still look brand new. I bought an ASUS TF101 that was refurbished and it looked and worked brand new. Only difference was it came in a generic white box instead of the original box it would have come in.

This laptop I bought is slow and it's already started to have these short freezes. I took it out of hibernation mode and the mouse pointer dissappeared off the screen so I had t restart the whole computer just to fix the problem. I didn't expect to have problems this soon, I've only had the laptop for 2 days

Brand new machines can have defective hardware. It's more common than you think.

I'll keep it a little bit longer and see if it continues if so, I'll exchange it for a new one I guess. It's kind of ridiculous that my desktop that came out in 2010 is faster than my new laptop lol.

So I have to put in my password each time I take my laptop out of sleep mode, hibernation mode, when I restart my computer or turn it on if it's been shut down. Are there any options I can adjust so I don't have to put in my password each time it goes into sleep mode?

It says "when your computer wakes from sleep" I didn't know that included hibernation mode and everything else.
