I love my new DELL XPS and UHD monitor, but do i need a new mouse?

My new DELL XPS and monitor are both great. However, one thing i noticed is that my mouse dosent feel as sharp as before. Im putting this one to the fact the UHD monitor has many more pixels and the screen is also much bigger.
My monitor is 30HZ and i've not noticed any real lag issues what so ever, in game or anywhere else.
The mouse i've got is logitech g500. But the DPI is limited for this mouse and wasnt designed for uhd monitor.
Ive gone ahead and ordered the Logitech G502 Proteus Core Tunable Gaming Mouse which can go up to 12000 dpi - which should make it ultra sharp for a ultra sharp monitor?
Any ideas if this will be a solution?
thanks

The proteus core is a very good mouse. Even on a 4k screen it's 12000 dpi will be way too fast but it does have quite a few dpi settings anyway so you can set the correct speed. I've just come from a 60hz 1080p to 60hz 4k monitor and it feels the same to me. Did you have a 60hz before and then come to a 30hz? And is it 30hz maximum even with display port?. 60hz is much smoother on desktop even if you cannot do 60hz gaming wise.

Thanks for reply. Well the clarity of UHD is superb, i love it. But, if the mouse inaccuracy is due to the 30HZ and not the mouse on the bigger screen, then yes it's defintayley noticable and actuually, as i do photoshop for my business and play a few games, id need to send this one back and swap it for a 60HZ. I dont believe this can do more than 30HZ, however, let me tell you the model.

Dell 28 P2815Q is what i have atm.
I came from a 24 inch Samsung Sync.

If i cant get 30Hz then which monitor should I swap to? I couldnt find and UHD monitors that run at 100Hz sadly, that would be awesome. But 60HZ should be fine.

Thanks

I may be wrong but I don't think you'll see a difference. You will notice a difference between 60 and 30 Hz, which is probably why you think your mouse isn't as "sharp" as it used to be. The Logitech you already have is a nice mouse, just the fact that your monitor is capped at 30Hz is your problem I think.

Yes, I think you're right. I guess I might need to swap my monitor. Which monitor should i get. And as for the mouse i've ordered, is that still an upgrade from my g500 - a better mouse? My mouse is old now anyway so if its better will keep the order.

Just tried something, with this monitor it can do 60hz if you reduce the resolution down to 1920x1080 @ 60Hz. The mouse felt just the same and not accurate at all at 60hz.
strange.

i have a asus 28" pb287q i bought a week or so back. I was looking at the same samsung or around £50 more for the Asus. Im glad i went for the Asus as i love it and it does 60hz perfectly on desktop and while gaming. The stand is also really nice and solid and can be easily height adjusted. Where as the samsungs stand from what ive seen is really quite flimsy and the monitor can easily wobble.

Maybe you want to take a look?

If you do decide on this monitor it runs at 60hz 4k over display port, this needs manually setting on the monitor itself to display port 1.2 and in windows itself as it comes standard set to 30hz well mine did anyway. Took some figuring to get it to 60hz as it needs to be set in the control panel as well as on the monitors settings. It comes with required display port 1.2 cable aswell.

control panel>appearance and personalisation>adjust screen resolution> advanced settings and then changed from 30hz to 60hz.

The ASUS does look good. The only reasons Im thinking about the Samsung is because there place I got my DELL UHD from sell it so could be an easy swap, and i own a HD smart samsung tv and been very happy with it.

Ive read that the stand isnt brilliant on the samsung. But is the screen better spec than the dell i currently have?

Thanks

Should be almost identicle, brighter screen than the dell. And of course its 60hz so it will be a much nicer smooth experience than 30hz. Both the Samsung and asus are very good. Both are nearly identicle screens. I just went for the asus due to the better quality adjustable stand and matte finish.

So if it's easier to just swap to the Samsung then do that. The stand shouldn't be a problem on a steady solid surface.

Sounds good. It says I need to use Display port to get 60Hz, what is this and would my new dell have a Display port?
Thanks

Well i've just realised that there is NO real way to use Adobe software like Photoshop properly with a UHD monitor. Unlike most software they dont have scalling menu compatibility, which means the menu is tiny and nothing you can do about it. As I use photoshop and need it for my business and work i've got no choice but to go back to a 1080p monitor until compatibility is resolved.
Many people in the adobe forum have raised this issue, there is no ideal solution, yet. Stupid Adobe devs who have zero logic :/
So, what 1080p monitor should I get, I need to get it tonight for next day delivery. Im thinking of getting one with 100hz+ and then upgrading back to uhd in the future when they have some 100hz uhz monitors.

Hi, thanks for reply. What does QHD mean? I will consider anything that is recommended, are they also good for games and multi-tasking? Im really after mouse accuracy for photoshop, im not an ultra pro with it but use it for regular basic image editing - its just as important for games to perform too.

I notice that monitor is also 2k res? Im not sure if ill have the same issue with menus in adobe been too small.

HD = 720
FHD = Full HD = 1920x1080
QHD = Quad HD = 2560x1440
UHD = Ultra HD = 3840x2160
4K = Quad FHD = 4096x2160

I would take the extra space over a monitor that can go over 60Hz for gaming/editing PC. If you were gaming only I would look at that G-Sync display you linked earlier.
Would I get the same issue with a QHD monitor with Photoshop menu been ultra small and useless? Or not? If not then cool i will get QHD.

thanks

23" FHD = 96 ppi
27" QHD = 109 ppi
28" UHD = 157 ppi

It will be smaller, but not too small that you will need scaling. I use mine with no scaling at all.
