I have more questions about the laptop that I bought. Compaq Armada 7800, is soo old, that it comes with Infrared technology. Now here's my yquestion/story. I'm sitting 10 ft from my tv (which I dont have a remote for), and everyonce in a while the menu pops up on the tv, as if I had hit it on the remote, that I dont have. The question is, is the infrared able to talk to the tv? if so, is there a way to completely control it?

It could be done, since there are already applications that turn a mobile phone into a remote control (http://www.psiloc.com/?id=prod&nrp=94). But for that laptop you might write your own software for controlling the IR port because I don't think there are such programs.

I concurr, ive not found anything to that nature. Note that the IR beam from the laptop will be a bit more senstivie/focused than that of a general purpose remote simply because of the need for data transfer integrity :)
