I want a monitor for around the 100-200 USD range. I was thinking about getting an LCD screen but I don't really know much about monitors. I heard CRT is better for games but I don't know why. Just looking around a bit I found these:

I heard sceptre and veiwsonic are good brands for monitors but Im not really sure. Also I want a widescreen if possible.

Sceptre is bad, Viewsonic good.

The reason why CRTs were better for gaming is because they had 2-4ms response times compared to the old LCD's 25ms or so. Now that LCDs have down to 4ms, LCDs are great for gaming. Just try to get one that has under 12ms, and you will be good!

EDIT:
FujiPlus (I have one by the same brand..) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824168007

Better: Hanns-G: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824254001 (400 reviews with five star average)

:o could you show me a CRT with a 2-4ms response time please? ^_^
CTS's basicly have an instant response time ( its only the time an electron needs from the cannon at the backside of the fube, till the thick glass wall in the frontside of the tube,.. wich is about a few nano seconds iirc, since they travel at lightspeed :) ofcourse, feel free to correct me if im wrong :o )
other than that, youre right

On a sidenote,.. my Philips 19"LCD is 12ms and i didnt have any trouble with games so far :D

yeah but would I really notice a difference between a 5ms LCD and a 4ms CRT? and my current monitor is a bit older so it will probably be better anyway.
EDIT: javascript:moreinfowindow('http://www.iq.sony.com/srvs/DocsConnect/docget.asp?manualid=13823&DL=',600,560,10,10,'Manuals')
there is my monitor specs. Copy and paste and it should open up in a new window if you have adobe acrobat reader...I hope.
