I currently have ATI RADEON XPRESS 200 Series (0x5954) in my Compaq Presario SR1603WM. I am trying to get a new game for my pc, but the System Requirements Lab recommends "256 MB DirectX 9.0c video card (NVIDIA GeForce 6800+ / ATI Radeo X800+)" and the game says the minimum is "128 MB with Pixel Shader 2.0 (AGP and PCIe only)"...I talked to someone at Compaq and they told me that since my power supply is 250 watts, I couldnt get a good enough card that would work with the 250 watt power supply. What should I do about my video card? Would it be better to upgrade my power supply? If so, I wouldnt really know where to begin there. I dont know what kind of power supply I would need, and if you want to recommend one, let me know. Any help here would be greatly appreciated! Sorry for so many newb questions :D just trying to get as much help as I can. Thanx in advanced!

yeah your going to need a new PSU... what game are trying to play... do you have an agp slot or pci express slot... Pci slots are the little white ones... and the pci-e are usually a little bit longer and black... u can ask compaq or just tell me what system you have

thanks for the replies

mtb - im not 100% sure which slot i have, but i am fairly certain it is a pci ex slot. that is the kind of new card the guy at compaq tried to suggest. he wasnt very much help at all other tham that. he kept wanting me to stop talking to me and set up a service call the next day, w/e.

joe - wow that stuff is up there aint it, i wasnt prepared to spend nearly that much. i mean i want to get good stuff, but theres got to be a little better deal, hopefully.

once you decide to upgrade to play games it 'opens a can of worms'. Even your processor would need to be upgraded; it's a Sempron 3200+. You would be better off with a new computer because if you just upgraded your video card and PSU, the CPU would hold it back.

well, its def better than i got and plenty good for the games i want to play. i am basing things off of systemrequirementslab.com, it says my cpu is 1.80 GHz Performance Rated at 3.20 GHz so i believe i will be alright. if i can upgrade my video card and possibly my power supply, the cpu will probly be next
