Hi everyone, im new to the forums and all and i dont know much at all about pc's, I am looking to buy a motherboard and a cpu, For $300 australian i found an Asus k8v-x and a amd 3200+ 64-bit I need to kno if these parts will run well.
I currently have a radeon 9200 se and 768 ram which is decent i spose and i want to kno if it will run games, i dont mind if i have to set the graphics to low i just want high frame rate, i am veru budgeted at the moment..... any help would be great thanks.

Another thing is that i have 2 sticks of ram one is 256mb and the other is 512mb

The 256mb is ddr 2700 i think?
and the 512 is ddr 3200?

Apparently they work together but the 512 is brought down to the 2700 speed but im not sure....

Wow where do you shop,an amd 3200 64 and mobo for $300
Sorry to say but a radeon 9200 se wont get you far with today's games :(
It's best suited for basic workstations and realy basic graphics. You wont be playing half life 2 or doom 3 anytime soon, sorry to say.

why not, i have one computer with duron 800, 256MB sdram and a radeon 9000 and it plays half life 2 on lowest settings with no lag

I dont care if its on the lowest graphics i just wanna kno if i can run source and stuff ya kno most probably some guild wars.
If ur aussie im buyin it from www.auspcmarket.com.au i dont kno if im allowed to put websites in here if not sorry but its $300 aussie even cheaper for you americans!

The processor/mobo/ram will be sufficienty: your only bottleneck will be the videocard :)

Yes the two sticks will both run at PC2700 however there's not a world of difference between PC2700 and PC3200 -- overall id reccomend sheer the quantity over a minor speed bump since you dont have any dual channel options anyways
