Help with gaming build

Hi, I am trying to either buy or build my first gaming system.
My budget is $1000-$1200. I need the computer primarily for Photoshop, 3D gaming (especially Second Life), and web browsing. I have never built a computer but would be willing to have a go at it if it meant saving a significant amount. The only components I don't need are a monitor and mouse.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Enna

Thanks for the replies :)

Is there anywhere I could cut back? Upgrading the to 260 will put me at the high end of my budget - I'd really like to stay closer to 1000-1100.

Also, sorry if this is a silly question but am I likely to find better deals on a machine like this before or after the holidays? I'm assuming after but would love to hear what others have experienced.
