ARGH!! I just bought a gig of ram for my PC.. FULLY COMPATIBLE. ITS THE RIGHT RAM. when i start my PC up, right when i put my password in for my profile, and my dekstop screen first appears during startup, MY PC RESTARTS ITSELF!!! Whats wrong?! argh

Sounds like you have an application problem that's cauing your restarts then, not a hardware fault. In safe mode open the management console (right click on my computer and pick manage) and check the system event log (event viewer tree, system). Look for an error event with a time as close to when you try to logon as possible.

it says ERRROR. SERVICE CONTROL MANAGER AND DCOM. i ran DXDIAG and the PC is recognizing that there is a new GIG of ram in there.

Don't worry, I'll be around. I'll be on/offline quite a bit through the rest of the night though :)

Is there an error where the source was "save dump"?

I've done a little more reading into it and it could be bad RAM, the PC can still recognize all the RAM even if theres a bad stick. Did you buy 1GB as 2x512MB sticks? If you did, try running with just 1 of the new sticks, then try the other. If not try running memtest (running memtest is a good place to start either way). You'll have to let it run a long time, at least 2 passes without error.
