I need help on building my 1st high-end gaming PC!

Guys I am going to be building my first high end gaming PC. I do a lot of web-design and graphics but I want a separate PC for my gaming now.

I have 2,000 bucks to spend on this PC.... No more. I need your help with finding me some compatible/high end parts. So guys... Write me up some recommendations for what I should get... Case, Power supply, motherboard, cooling... everything BUT the Processor, Vid Card, and Screen. (I have one already)

The only things I want to be in this PC is MAC....................... LMAO JK.

No really... For the Processor i'm an AMD man. (Tell me what model would be good for this type of setup) For the Graphics Card I would like to go with Dual 6800 Ultra SLI's. (I already have screens.)

Now I have a question about the duel 6800s... What dose everyone do that has them? Do you have Duel screens or four screens? LOL jk... Or do you just use one screen and how is the performance with one screen? (I bet raw of course)

I really need your help guys... Remember around 2,000 bucks. I want this baby to ROCK AND ROLL. ;)

Let me have it guys, what do you recommend.

BTW Guys I forgot... I'm a WD man on the HDs.... Tell me some models? (I was thinking about some Raptors?)

hmm 2 6800ultras is gonna be pushing it for 2,00 bucks.. id just reccomend 1 ultra since that will play all the games anyway

What do you think of:

AMD 3500+ 90nm (FX-55 is too expensive)
Asus A8N SLI Deluxe
2x 6800 gt (almost as good as ultra but dont take as much power)
2 WD Raptor 74gb
Silverstone Tj05 (or any other variety of case) (i just like silverstone and this is the case i have)

I don't know about PSU, but I got a Thermaltake 680w for future SLI.

Good OCZ 3200 RAM CAS 2

NEC 3520A drive

If there is some money left, get good cpu cooler and fans.

the good cpu coller and fans is a must, unless you want your money to be wasted. I really don't think you need a dual graphics card right now, just a good single one, save money. the rest sounds good though

listen

my comp is
amd 3500+
6800gt
msi neo2 939 board
1 gig of good corsair ram
70 dollar case
dvd +/-rw
cd +/- rw
60 dollar keyboard and mouse

for a grand total of 1750
thats without windows and software.

Make sure that 3500 is s939

SLI no no no

SLI is not a good idea right now. I only say this because I read an article online that said only a couple games, like HL2 DOOM3 and a handful of others are able to actually use SLI for full compatability. Just a thought

LOL they go to highschool and have their parents pay for it :D

Either you go all out or you stay at home (figuratively). No point of bottlenecking the video subsystem with a haflass proc.

2x 6800 gt (almost as good as ultra but dont take as much power)
Dont skimp out on the power.

Silverstone Tj05 (or any other variety of case) (i just like silverstone and this is the case I have)
Lets get the computer first, silly bling bling case second

Good OCZ 3200 RAM CAS 2
Which series do you mean by 'good'?

This should be a much higher priority.

for a grand total of 1750
:P

lol where are you buying from......2 6800 ultra's is like 1,000 tops
Very good :P ... now keep thinking .. that leaves ... $1000 to build a computer worthy of a dual 6800Ultra ... *Praetor watches as the light clicks* hehe

Make sure that 3500 is s939
LOL as opposed to a socket754 3500? (which doesnt exist)

Ok, Doom3, Painkiller, HL2, FarCry, etc ... there ARE other FPS games worth playing?

Tops for AGP, if you want to use SLI though you need PCI-E and its a bit more.
LOL i knew i didnt shop at Newegg for a reason ... too damn expensive there

That would make for an interesting read, do you have the link?... I dont really think it matters as the game does not know if your using one or two videocards... It's not like the game was programmed especialy for SLI. Anyhow I Know very little on the subject but still that makes no sense with the way that I see it so providing a link would be much appreciated.

go for this

AMD FX-53
and X850xt dual sli is overrated.

I agree with the duel sli comment but I do see it havig it's advantages It's just not all what most think that it is. Still if I could obtain an sli setup with just one video card with the knowledge of being able to piggy back another card on it in the future and this setup did not cost me anything extra Then I'd go for it.

Just remember that the Proc. for example is much more important then duel sli as tomprice43 points out.

For those of you who dont know, ATI Multirendering is ATI's version of SLI, it wont be out till early march, late february but im sure it will be worth it.

also it will work without a connector and will need a ATI chipset to work.
