I need help with installing vista

Sort of anyway...

I recently bought a new hard drive for my laptop as the old one broke, after removing and replacing my old one I started up my laptop and promptly got the "No bootable device insert boot disk and press any key" screen.

I completely forgot that I'd need to reinstall vista!

The problem is that being as stupid as I am, I didn't make a recovery disk of my system before the old hard drive broke.

Now after doing a little research I'm a bit confused, I'm aware that I need to reinstall vista onto my laptop but do I need a vista recovery disk or a vista installation disk? and what is a boot disk?! From my understanding a boot disk and installation disk are 2 different things, so why is my laptop asking for a boot disk and will it recognize a vista installation disk?

I'm not sure if this is the right place but I couldn't see anywhere else for this topic so I'm sorry if this is in the wrong area of the forum, however can somebody PLEASE let me know what I need to do in this situation?

My laptop is a Compaq Presario C757EA Notebook PC.
My plan was to just download the vista installation software and burn it onto a disc and use that but I want to make sure.

One more thing: Do I need some kind of driver install disk? or can I just install vista, get to the desktop, install IE and then download the drivers from the website?

Sorry, a lot of questions asked but all help will be appreciated...I need my laptop back! :(

If you don't have any recovery cd's then you will need to contact HP for a replacement recovery cd, which are usually $15-$20 depending on model of system.
