I need help with my first build

I am trying to decide on a video card and a mother board. This is my first build and not sure where to look. I think I like the Antec Sonata Elite with the Antec truepower trio 650 for my power supply. I would like to play games at the highest setting I could. I was looking at the geforce gts 250. Any help would be great. Thanks
 
We need to know about how much you plan to spend on this new computer. The choice of processor, motherboard, and video card will affect the size/power needed, (and price), of all the other components.
 
Oh then you will be able to get something amazing! Do you want a new cpu as well or just a new mobo and video card. For the mobo I would recommend the Asus Maximus Formula II. I use that and I love it. Its really expansive and has some good fsb's! For the video card I recommend the Diamond 4870 XOC Black Edition with 512 mb of GDDR5. I also have this card. It overclocks really well and plays all my games at max settings. That combo should only set you back 500 dollars!
 
No problem. I have an ABS Canyon 965. Its pretty expensive at 600 dollars but it has 4 140mm fans and more expansion bays then you could know what to do with!

1500 would get you a nice i7 rig, so i would avoid lga 775, as there are no new motherboards that are going to be coming out(avoid my mistakes)
