I need help with my laptop!!!!!

Hello my laptop freezes about every 30 minutes of being turned on and have no idea what is going on. I'm pretty sure its a hardware problem since it freezes while I am running Ubuntu or Windows. If you need anymore information on the problem to give me an answer please feel free to ask questions.

a computer frezzing can often be faulty memory try running mem test and try taking your memory out and reseating it
 
Specs? Age? Does it run hot?

Also, I'd suggest running Memtest. Just let it go overnight or something. If you have any real problems, they should appear during the first pass, but no harm in allowing it to do multiple passes.
 
It seems like nothing is wrong with my memory so Ill try running and operating system off of a cd or USB flash drive.
 
Didn't you already do that? Or did you install Linux to run it? Also, if you haven't already tested your hard drive, download seatools and run a long test on the drive.
 
I have only had the laptop for a few months I'm running Ubuntu off of an external device right now and the computer is running perfectly fine....I think the HDD is the problem :P
 
The problem is solved. I now have one of my old hard drives in the computer and it is working perfectly. :D thanks for all of the help.
