I need help with my motherboard

Hey there,
I was just wanting to know, is there any way that i can find out the max voltage that my motherboard can take? This is because i currently have a slim case, with a 120 watt psu. I was wanting to move the contents into a full size case so i could put a 1gb full size video card in, but before i could do this i was wanting to find out what max voltage my mb can take(because the cards need a minimum of around 240v). I was looking at around the 230-240 watt range and wanted to know if this could damage my mb. My mb is an intel(dell computer) board. If anyone could help me it would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Power supplies run on the same voltage 115/230v depending on where you live.

The difference is in their power ratings. The power supply in your computer is rated at 120 watts. The power supply delivers as much as power is required.

If you're asking can your mainboard handle a 400 or 500 watt power supply, the answer is yes.

that 400w rating is for the entire system not just the graphics card. the short answer is bo, you would need something with more juice.

I am looking at getting a Sapphire HD5770 and apparently it only needs 108w to run it. I am going to get an 230/240w psu. Surely ill be able to run this card after i get this.
Thanks for your reply

It's better to play it safe and go over then to not have enough.
It's like making food for a picnic. Would you rather run out or have some left overs?

I highly doubt a 230 Watt power supply is going to be sufficient for your whole system. I would look at a 400 to 450 Watt power supply at least. Here is a decent quality 600 Watt power supply for around $35:

I have a slimline case at the moment, but i am going to put everything into a full size case, and get an ATX psu so i can fit the 1gb card in without having to get a low-profile card. I am looking at a Sapphire HD 5770, and this card needs around 400w to run it, so i am thinking about getting a 500w. Could this do any damage to my motherboard or other components, jumping so much in wattage from the current 120 watts?

No, the parts will only draw the power they need. the powersupply will be able to supply up to 500w of power if needed.
