Don't get the P5LD2....it is junk!

What is you budget and what CPU do you have now?

Give us your full system specs and we can help you. Don't buy anything until you know what will work.

The P5N-D is only $140 on newegg

and for the cpu intel r pentium r d cpu 3.20 GHZ

The Pentium D @ 3.2 is the 940, 835 or 935 that's what is in my daughter's Dell XPS 400. That is a good processor and it has 2 cores, but for gaming and processor intensive tasks it is actually fading away. I dropped my daughter's in my computer to load the latest BIOS that supports my processor. I over clocked it to 3.8 GHz and ran 3Dmark06 for the hell of it. My score was 7,120. Dropped my Q9300 in @ 2.5 GHz stock speed and my score was 13,845. Almost twice the score even when it was overclocked. That is a first hand account of the choke point you will hit. It is a LGA 775 series Intel which is good news for you. That means what ever motherboard you want to get....it has to be LGA 775 socket. Make sure you look at the motherboard makers website and check if that processor is supported in the BIOS versions. The P5N-D is a good motherboard and it supports that processor....but....with that graphics card and that motherboard.....you will hit a choke point with that processor. It will work, but you might want to think about a processor upgrade in the future! :) Good luck and let us know what happens!

You can get better motherboards for less money. I would look at a motherboard with an Intel P or X Northbridge chipset (X38, X48, P45). I would go with a Gigabyte, ASUS or MSI motherboard. You can get a really nice board for about $130 to $170.

Tiger direct is expensive....you can find some really good deals on Newegg.

As for buying a processor....there is a couple ways to do it.

1. Decide what CPU you want and fits your needs and then find a compatible motherboard (I think is the perfered method) You can find this information on the motherboard's website. There will be a link that will tell you what processors are supported and what version of the BIOS sopports your processor.

2. Decide what motherboard you want and fits your needs and then find a processor that is compatible.

Things To Consider When Buying a Processor
- Budget, how much are you willing to spend for a processor? Price per GHz and price per core are a few things to consider if you get confused.
- What will it be used for? (Gaming, internet, video editing, video encoding, picture editing, multitasking, working at home maybe) What do you do with your computer? A hundred different people do a hundred things with their computers.
- What do you really need for performance. Some people buy for extreme performance and overclockability. Different processors are better for cranking up the settings and getting max performance. Myself, I don't need to score 20,000 on 3Dmark06 to be happy with my system. My Q9300 with a slight overclock running at 2.875 GHz is all I will need for now and a while. I wanted a 45nm Quad but I did not need anything in the top end range so I settled for this one. And it future proofs me, I know I can take my processor up to the 3.2 GHz to 3.5 GHz with no problem, but I don't need to.
- Dual core or Quad core? Quad core will future proof you , but there are few single programs that can even take advantage of all 4 cores at a time. If you multitask (encoding a video, downloading something, music playing, and surfing the web all at once.....Quad is the way to go.) If you are a basic computer user (surfing the web, gaming, and basic things one at a time....dual core will be fine for you)
- These are just a few of the basics, there are many more things but this will be a good start for you in your decision.

Here are a few examples of good processors

Here is a couple motherboards I would recomend. Of course the $350 motherboards are awesome, but most people don't really need all that. Just remember...you can ask 100 people what motherboard to buy and you'll get 100 different answers. These are just a small idea of whats out there in the mid range.

ASUS P5K EPU LGA 775 Intel P35

GIGABYTE GA-X38-DS4 LGA 775 Intel X38

I don't know what your budget is, but the Gigabyte is a sweet motherboard! A lot of people also like DFI, I've never used one but heard good things about them.
