i scrapped an old xbox and found an old hard-drive in it that is compatible with my computer. it is a western digital protega 8gb hard-disk but when i put it in as a slave it refuses to do anything... do i have to format it for windows? my computer says it's working, and i can feel it spinning, but when i go into my-computer to add files to it, my computer will only show my c-drive... i know it CAN work, but what do i have to do to make it?
 
Did you unlock the hdd before you took it out of the xbox? If you dont unlock it, it won't work for anything but that mobo on the xbox. You have to have a modded xbox to unlock it btw.
 
hm? my computer recognizes it, even set it with a driver, but it just won't work. and no, i didn't mod it, my x-box crapped out on me, so i scrapped all but the broken psu it came with...
 
or is there really any way to do that now? the link you gave is really confusing
