i need help

ok i have an emachine T2596 and latly its been running really slow. It has a biostar P4 2.66ghz processor and 256mb of ram....i know that im going to have to add ram...but is there anything else to do to make this fast again....or should i just look at a new computer
 
assuming you are running windows xp. right click your my computer icon and choose properties, then you go to advanced tab and performance section where there is bullets where you can choose for custom, best performace and best appearance, select best performance.


run msconfig and click startup tab and remove anything you are not using when you're in windows so that they dont run when you turn on your computer.

download and run cccleaner program.

run a disk cleanup follow by a defragment
 
Have a big clean up delete/unistall documents and programs that you do not use. Then run ccleaner 2 get rid of it all.

yea im not really sure what my graphics are to be honest...i belive there 128 like yours.....but yea i think i would see a differnce if a added a 512 stick to the 256 i have and have 7** something...that would help alot wouldnt it?
 
its a biostar intel pentium 4 prescott...P4VMA-M FSB 800.....i was just wondering if that is worth putting any money into...or if its crap cause dont see anyone else with a biostar...lol
