I need help

*Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, pretty new here*

Well unfortunatly, I ran out of time to activate Windows Media Center on my computer and seeing as how I used my dad's CD on my computer to load it, the serial number would not activate it. Well, I accidently logged off and now it will not let me back on.

I put a regular Windows XP Home Edition on an empty partition on my computer in an attempt to recover all of my files from Media Center and I always get the Access Denied error message when I try to view the files via My Computer.

Is there any way that I can access my files from the new partition or get into my old account to back my files?

I've had the same problem, and I've seen other posts around here of people that have, but I've never seen an answer. It's seems like it should be able to be done with little problem, but I don't know how.
 
I take it this wasnt the original cd that came with your cd to get the install done... It sounds to me like you need to activate this product its not hard... If this was your cd and it just wont take the key call the 800 number they give you and tell them i had to reformat and they will give you a new key.
