I need software for making family DVDs

I have tons of pictures and home digital movies of the family. I want to start making DVDs with all the pictures and videos. I would like menus and music and all the bells and whistles that I can get. Does anybody know of a good free program that can make good quality movies on a DVD?
 
Movie Maker (included with XP and Vista) will allow you to make video clips with slide transitions and stuff, but you'll probably need to buy something like Nero to make the DVD with Menus and stuff
 
I think DivX containers a program which creates a DVD menu and makes it so you can watch the DVD on a player but jjsevdt is right use the windows movie maker or another third party program
 
Either Movie Maker or Sony Vegas 8, i have used both, and Sony Vegas has some nice features.

Ulead Video Studio Has Editing and Exporting to DVD and is very nice
I know Sony Vegas Can Edit but I'm not sure on DVD Exporting

Mac:
Final Cut Express can Edit
Final Cut Studio Can Edit and burn DVDs and has extra Apps although It's Very Pro and Expensive and Film Makers use this software

Thanks for all the replies and advice...I will be looking into these apps!

I am actually thinking about spending some money and get a good program.
