metamorphosis

hey. im a complete n00b at computers and im just starting to use my laptop for something other than facebook.
for some strange reason, all my music and movie files are saved twice onto my hard drive, and i want to free some space up on it.
any ideas/advice about this model or even how stuff works would be highly appreciated.

Well its not really anything to do with your laptop, i mean what operating system do you have, Windows XP/Vista/7 or other. i mean you could just delete the duplicates and thats it. i mean i am sure you know how to delete a file from a computer. after deleting go to the recycling bin and empty that, then you will see the difference. for example you have a 120GB drive and 25GB is your music and films, and all are duplicated so 50GB is taken up, deleting the duplicates will free up 25GB. i mean i am trying to make this as simple as possible.
Just another question, do you use itunes, or something else?
IF you really want to format, the drive, you will have to reinstall all programs and OS back onto the system, and for a new user that might be hard.
the easiest way would be to delete the duplicates.
you ask how stuff works, if you want answers be more specific!, like how to delete files, or how do i do this or that...or how does this work

look at uni blues speed suite. their speed boos program auto deletes the duplicates. it cost 29.99 for the program though.
