I need to replace my laptop ASAP- is this any good?

Not really. Alienware isn't that great. I'm assuming you're looking to game with it?

There are better companies that build gaming laptops like Asus, ibuypower and cyberpowerpc.

Plus I never buy a anything if they can't get the tech specs right, anyone else notice the 6 MB of memory along with the 500 MB HDD?

Can I get some advice pretty please :)

I have been looking around a lot. And decided to spend about 1500 us, and buy new instead of second hand.

I want to start gaming, but would mainly use for music and uni work. I tend to have a lot of windows open. And would like to save as much media as possible.

I admit I am a girl, and have no background. But spend most of my 'work' time on a computer, so would like to make the most of it.

I was considering either alienware or asus.

The 14 http://www.dell.com/nz/p/alienware-laptops.aspx?c=nz&cs=nzdhs1&l=en&s=dhs

Or the asus http://www.computerlounge.co.nz/components/componentview.asp?partid=19698

Pricing in nz. I have no idea wear to start, and the specialty stockists here don't have both brands so am hesitant on getting advice from them.

Thanks :)

There was no need to create a new thread. Its much easier to keep everything in one thread, so I have moved your new post into your original thread.

If theres one thing ive learnt... never buy a laptop for gaming... although its really convenient.. They over heat like nothing else

I have an alienware M11X, frekin animal of a laptop but it just gets so hot.. i have to play it with an ashtray under it to keep it elevated or else it overheats and crashes

Unless you can find something with excellent cooling system, save up and buy a gaming PC and a $400 laptop

Thank you!

Yeah- the heat is something I would rather avoid, but I have always used a laptop with a cooling stand to avoid that.

I am a bit hesitant on spending too much, just because the gaming wouldn't be my #1 use-but still i'd like to be able to if I wanted.

I noticed a really good deal on on of the MSI gs70's, any experiences with these?

It seems like the same specs for a lot cheaper, I guess the quality might not be so good?
