This is started on one day, when my computer has no response and I rebooted it. After that my vista computer can't save all the things, like after reboot the things I have downloaded have all disappeared, and the settings I have changed like settings of the games is not changed after reboot, also I can't shift delete the files, they reappeared too. This is very annoying...:(

Have you tried Re-Installing the OS(Operating System)? If you did then your computer cannot be compatible with Vista. Whats your Spec on your computer atm?

I don't have the disc to reinstall windows...

My computer specs:
Windows Vista Home Basic Service Pack 1
Dell Vostro 200
2036 MB RAM
32 bit
Genuine Intel CPU [email protected]

please help

To keep the post up....

It won't go down, it just goes on to the second page.

With regards to your problem, how come you do not have an operating system disk? It must have come preinstalled. Sometimes an operating system disk is referred to as a System Recovery DVD or something like that.

What make is your computer?
Approximately how old is it?
Where did you buy it from?

I think your problem might be a malfunction in System Restore or a backup program you have installed. Which sorts of backup programs do you have (eg NTI Backup Now 4.7 or whatever)?

Do you have any of these kinds of recovery programs on the PC? If so, what are they?

If not, you could try this. However, this proceedure will disable System Restore and cause you to loose any saved restore points. Please ensure you have tried the above steps as thoroughly as possible before continuing.

  1. Boot the computer and login as an administrator
  2. Go to Start and right click on Computer, then click Properties
  3. On the left of the window that comes up, go to System Protection
  4. Click Continue when prompted

A dialog box should appear that looks like the one below. You may have more than one drive checked in the list.

  1. Uncheck the box next to drive C (mine is named VistaOS, yours might be different)
  2. Follow onscreen instructions, and reboot the computer
  3. See if it worked. If not, post back here with the results

Hope this helps, but please try all other steps before disabling system restore.

I looked up the specifications on his system.

He has an the Intel E2140 Dual-Core processor in his system and the motherboard uses DDR2 RAM. It should have sufficient hardware resources to run Windows Vista if his components are working properly.

are you using a school computer? if not it could still be a hard drive shield but its unlikely i dont exactly know how to check if you have one i just know about them, they restore your computer to how it was before you logged on, so say you changed poker to give you 3 cards instead of two or something, once you shut down the computer and relog in it will be changed back to two cards. hope this helps :D

I think I don't have any backup program...
It's about 1 year already since the pc was bought.
I have tried the steps but it doesn't work, it just return to the same.

Also my computer is not a school computer, and I don't know why it is like that. Sadly it can't set restore points for the C drive...I don't know why. It says the restore point has been established or something like that. But it still says that there is none.

And I forgot to say that, it works in safe mode.
