I tried to copy my entire C: drive to my external i-omega drive and about 5 min. into the xfer it had an error and stopped the exfer. When I try to access the disk it says "insert a disk into the drive--- I guess it thinks its a removeable disk drive. I would like to reformat the drive but I can't get passed the insert a disk part. Any suggestion would be appreciated. Thanks

try using a 3rd party boot disc partion tool like PARTED MAGIC this will boot from the disc before windows starts, that should let you get in and format and partion your drive.

im confused do you mean when you try to boot windows it says 'insert disk into the drive' or is that the error that the external hd gives when you try to access it from windows?

if you cant boot into windows and you are getting this error have you unplugged the external hd and removed any cd/floppy disks you have in the system before you boot, i ve had this error before and it was caused by trying to boot with one of these things attached to my computer

if you can boot have you tried going to windows disk manager to see if the device is listed and formatting to external hd that way or are you looking to format your c:drive?
