I sold my soul to the devil.

I installed itunes.

So, my problem is simple. I have 500+ songs in "my music" all of them have numbers as names. The first song in 'my music' is "001.m4a" the second is "002.m4a" ect. In itunes all of my files have there real names. How can I change all the files in 'my music' from the numbers to their actual names?

Thanks.

You would have to go and change all the file names, which would take alot of time.

Darn, I was hopping I wouldnt have to resort to that.

There has to be someway itunes will allow you to change the file name, at least there should be. Anyone have any other ideas?

not sure, try messing around in the options tab. if not, u may need to change one by one. or try Winamp, it may fix them all for u

it's simple to change the file names all at once
just select all
and hit F2 (rename)
and write anything like "Song"
now all the files are renamed like this
Song(001)
Song(002)
Song(003)

Yea, but he wants the "actual" song names.

Ha figured it out, In the setting you have to set it to mp3 playback, then you can go to file>convert to mp3. It converts all the files from m4a to mp3 and gives them a name! Thanks for all your help.

Glad to know you got it fixed.

And for anyone else that's having this problem, find yourself a freeware program by the name of TagScanner.

You can set it up to rename all of your music files, make playlists, and edit tags and even retrieve tag info from the internet.
