I'm still don't know about the differences between RAID and SATA? Could U give me a simple explained for this, thnk's

:D

erm.. SATA is a connection type, you know, connector + cables ( and its faster than IDE, wich is replaced by it, or beeing replaced by it :) )
and RAID is a certain setup you can make with 2 (or more i gues) harddrives.
(as far as i know,.. but maybe have a look into RAID 101 and Hdd 101 :o )

^ That's the gist of it.

Basically RAID is a set of disks setup in a way that makes them appear as one so that if one drive fails data can be recovered (with the exception of RAID0 this is so that if a disk fails the data can't be recovered). It's all covered in detail in the link Archangel posted. If you have questions past what's in there feel free to ask :)

i think you're confused mister moderator. raid 0 looks like 1 drive. raid 1 mirrors the other drive, if i'm not mistaken.

No I'm not mistaken, the OS still only sees 1 drive. The size it sees differs but it is still only 1 drive. ;)

with raid 0, the computer sees only one drive, as it is striped. no back up if it fails.

raid 1 also shows one drive, but uses the other one to mirror in case it fails.

you said with raid 0 you can recover if it fails. i think you mean raid 1.

anyone else want to confirm this for me?

Oops. That should say 'can't' my mistake :(

I thought when you said I was mistaken it was in regards to the OS seeing it as 1 drive. I've fixed the slight typo as well as corrected the partial thought I had there. I could've sworn I had that all in there the first time, ah well sorry for any confusion that may have brought on.

now i see what you meant, lol. :P

not only do you not have the recovery option, but raid 0 arrays are not as stable as running a single drive.
