hi

i sent a .mp3 music file in .rar compressed format throught the company email and as soon as it sent none of the emails work in the company. I sent from my computer from home in outlook express. We can send emails but not recieve emails.

Did i break something or send a bad file and stuffed up the emailing.
Or just a coincidence and there is another problem.

That just appears to be a very unfortunate coincidence. Sending a RAR file via email attachment couldn't take down an entire email service. It sounds more like a fault with the service itself. With something like that I'd say theres a 95% chance that it wasn't you, unless theres more to it than just sending a .rar file. However if that's all you done, don't worry about it as that couldn't take down the companies email service.

The rar file itself couldn't really do anything. Even if it had a virus within it, it couldn't exactly be activated because it hasn't been extracted yet. I wasn't thinking towards the type of file itself, I was thinking along the lines of file size etc. However if it's an organisation then they would have setup restrictions on file sizes etc. Plus he said an .mp3, they're not exactly large in size.

it was like 4.5MB...phew...i was startin to worry thought i really screwed something up there...i have some piece of mind now....but the emailis still down...thats 24hrs now
