I think I've settled on this build. Whatcha think?

After a day of deliberation, this is the system I’ve settled on.

I’m going to use my old ATX case that I mentioned in another thread. Not sure where to get Windows Vista at a decent price. Any ideas?

Anyhow, with the advice I’ve received here and elsewhere this is the PC that I plan to build.

What do you think? Is the cooling a little much? I plan to overclock quite a bit, but I wasn’t sure how much liquid cooling was necessary.

I'm not sure if I'm right but i think you can only do dual GTX and Ultra With the 780i.
so i don't think the 2 GTS will work.

And you could fined a way better water cooling system for cheaper. water cooling systems needs a
water block. so no need for a heatsink

Stupid question: If you have liquid cool system, what are the fan for?

Even with a liquid cooled system it is still important to have a few case fans. Unless you plan on putting water blocks on your hard drive, north bridge, south bridge, MOSFETs, video card, CPU, Memory, etc, you still need some air moving through the case. Especially with overclocking the MOSFETs and north bridge can get very hot and make your OC unstable. Good airflow through the case and heatsinks on critical components are still important. Computers have more than a CPU in them.

lol sli will definetely work.

i think your talking about tri-sli, in which case you are right only a GTX or ULTRA would do.

Lets not get confused here. The 780i is a newer versdion of the 680i, main main addition is the ability to do Tri-SLi (With the GTX and Ultra only) as well as the normal SLi. The 3870 can do quad-crossfire but that's only available on ATi 790FX boards (confusing huh?). That will all work although I'd look at another PSU, Rosewill aren't bad but they're no-where near the best.

Do you plan to do tri-sli? It sounds like a good setup if you plan to have 3 gpu's in the future. Otherwise I would go with the 680i lt sli motherboard and downgrade the power supply, because that motherboard and wattage would be overkill for 2 way sli.

O, and I picked up a new full copy of Vista home premium 64bit on ebay for $104.00. Check out ebay if you never have before. There is more risk that buying from an online retailer like new egg or tiger direct, but lots of the sellers have great reputations, and I can suggest the guy I brought from.

You seem to have not bought anything from Newegg before. I have had 1 DOA item out of around 100 bought from them. Perfect RMA, everything.

PS - $104.99 + Shipping?

On Newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116204

$5.

Also, I don't think you should be talking about risks from online retailers if you're buying from eBay ;)

I have bought from newegg and and other online retailers as well as ebay and never had any problems with my items being DOA. Maybe I will get a bad item some day, and I will be more cynical, but in my opinion there is more risk with ebay, because there isn't as much you can do to hold the seller "joe schmoe from jersey" liable as you can with newegg.com.

Also, I paid a total of $111.49 on ebay and received my item in 2 days.

If you want to make a big deal about getting it for 109.99 and 3 day delivery, then I'm glad you could possibly save 2 bucks.

Newegg does 3 day guaranteed shipping. People closer to the warehouse get it in 2 days.

I HATE eBay? Now hold on :P

Just this year I think I've bought 6 items already. You can't find any cheaper and crappier Toyota Parts :P

But no, I don't hate eBay, cause I'm buying new rotors and trunk struts and shocks and a welding kit offa there soon :D

i think your system build looked great!

when you buy from ebay, i owuld buy from a " ebay store " you will find people have a better return policy. also if you pay with " pay-pal " you file a dispute you either get a working part of you get your money back pretty simple if you ask me.. but thats just my opinion

But it takes time. I've had to do that last week. Took like a week for them to sort out.
