first let me say, i just built this computer and its my very first build. i have a pretty good background with compters, but this problem has gotten my very perplexed. i can get to the windows setup screen, but after 3 mins or so the computer will shut down. i know it his a mobo problem becasue if i am working in the bios (before i started setting up windows) it shut down then too.

i dont even know where to start to fix this problem, any ideas that you might have i would be greatly appreciated if you would tell me what u think.

the motherboard is a ASUS P5B Deluxe

thanks for the help

It might be the power supply, I don't know a lot about motherboards though so that could be the problem as well. Just from my experience, when my computer shuts down randomly it has been the power supply that was the problem

Don't be so quick to judge... It could easily be other problems as well, such as a bad power supply, heat problem, possibly RAM. I'm not saying to limit out the motherboard, just saying run some other tests first.

What are the tests that i can run to see if it is the power supply, ram or heat problem. i do rember seeing a few times this message "CPU is over the heat range" or something like that. but i never saw that message before it shutdown.

again any help will be greatly appreciated.
