I thought Newegg's shipping was supposed to be good?

Just got my final box of components today, in a plain brown box with no "Fragile" marking or anything, and the box is in an atrocious state. I'm guessing the UPS guys played soccer with it. Everything inside seems ok at first glance, but I shudder to think what happened to my delicate components (HDD, sound card, etc.)

I know that may not be Newegg's fault directly, but what an uninspiring packing job in the first place. Can't they at least *label* it fragile?

I've never seen a box with fragile on it TBH, components can take quite a battering and modern HDD's retract the heads anyway when they're not active to protect against such damage. Baring in mind CPU's and other IC's are totally solid state they're difficult to damage without physically getting into the sillicon.

I've also never seen anything labeled "fragile". Newegg does a great job of packaging, so even if the box is dented up then the components should be fine.

there is a way to tell if the person driving the truck made any sudden stops, there are these little things, that have tubes of paint that break after so many g's of force, don't know if you could talk newegg or wherever you order from next time into slapping some on your box.

Well, the individual components seem nicely wrapped. I'm about to go open everything and get it all in order for tomorrow's build.

When I got my copy of Windows XP in the mail, it came in a brown envelope, and that envelope came in a box stuffed with styrofoam chips. Overkill? Probably, but that was definitely impressive for shipping a CD! :)
