I want to connect free wifi to linksys to distribute

Hi, How can I connect a free wifi signal to my linksys
wireless router to distribute and amplfy?

I currently have a:
linksys WRT54G wireless G router
broadband cable modem
g-sky high power usb wireless network adapter:
(w/a good to excellent signal strength: 4-5 bars)

so could I connect the network adapter
to the router to distribute to local weaker
network adapters?

You would setup a wireless bridge. Here's a guide I found that may be useful. http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.aspx?catid=36&threadid=1513386 Also, I would suggest getting DD-WRT if it's possible for you router. since it has a lot more flexibility than normal firmwares.

no, I want to receive and amplify an internet
hotspot signal I currently receive w/router and
whatever else I might need to get free internet
if its possible

Use a wifi repeater. See if you can't install dd-wrt and then follow this guide http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Universal_Wireless_Repeater

could I connect my high power usb wireless
network adapter to my router to amplify
a weak wifi signal to act like a repeter?

or input an internet "wifi" signal into my
router to repeat it

Yes, you could. Connect with the high powered usb adapter. Then in network connections set the wireless to share the internet connection. Then in wired setup a static ip. Plug the router's wan into the wired connection and set it up a static ip and you should be good to go.

a usb device to a ethernet connection that is on

There are some really strange wifi/ethernet adapters out there, but nothing i know of that will connect a usb wifi adapter to an ethernet port. I seriously, seriously doubt those exist. Some routers do have usb ports for printers and NAS but even then I'm not sure if those would work with a usb wifi adapter.
