I want to disable Mcafee

I believe i have the 2009 version, but im not 100% sure.

I wanted to install a new anti-virus because the subscription to mcafee is over and based on what i have heard, Mcafee isnt that good anyways. I dont want to uninstall it because my dad may try to buy it again (he refuses to listen to me when i tell him it's bad) and so if he does buy it, i'd have to enable it again.

It doesn't matter if you uninstall it anyway. You said your subscription is almost up. Renewing is just about the same amount of money for a new copy.
 
But say i disable everything, the real time virus scanning and such, then install kaspersky. Would i run into any conflicts?
 
Issues might arise when you have 2 Antivirus programs installed. Even though one is not active, the other program might consider it a threat.
 
True, thx for your help again John. Im just gonna stick with McAfee for now, and tell my dad not to buy a new subscription. Then I'll switch my antivirus
