I want to go to an SSD

If I buy an SSD will I have to buy a new Windows 7 OP system? I just built my computer 15 days ago and registered my systems builder software. So if I buy an Intel 80GB SSD what would I need to do to turn the 500GB hd into a "backup" and move my OP system to the new ssd?

Well you could ghost the image of your HDD to the SSD.

I personally do it old school. Unplug your HDD and hook up the SSD to the SATA0/SATA1 slot to make sure it has priority (and to ensure you don't format the HDD). Then install Windows on the SSD and once your done power down...plug in the new HDD and power up to Windows and go to "computer" you will see a second HDD which will now be a "slave" then you can explore and drag/drop your files you want on the SSD.

What I usually do is a reinstall of all my programs and only transfer videos/music/photos to the new drive then I format the old drive to get every inch of free space off it as Vista/7 usually takes 15GB of space.

Thanks for the info.

One other question. I bought DDR3 1600 memory but now I understand my MOBO is 2200/1333/1056. My memory is clocking at 1056. What are my options? It seems that I can get 1333 for less money, can my 1600 only clock down to 1056?

You'll should be able to set your memory to 1333 manually in the BIOS
