I currently have some old piece of junk in my office at work that I want to upgrade. The Boss won't upgade unless my one breaks down. Has anyone got any ideas how to permanately stuff a computer without any noticable damage.

Cheers

That could work, or just rename and delete some files. And get some spyware :P
surely a reinstall of windows would sort that?
how about being an idiot and plugging in a few things in the wrong ports, or the wrong way for USB. That should be classified under 'accidentaly damage' :P

flashing the mobo bios with some unsupported version would be enough, it wont boot up at all, u know how to flash bios right?

u dont know how to flash bios, well go to you motherboard manufacturer site and you can find there all the software you need for flashing it. cheers :P

pop out the bios and try some different pin combinations to fry that one with a battery :)
it wont boot up then anymore :P

if you want to kill it with the case cloed,.. put some paperclips into the different ps2 porst, that will short them ( and most likely destroy the controller ) then the mouse and keyboard wont work anymore.

is your boss a computer geek also? or no?

try to get a static charge to the inside of your case.
resolder some wires.

how are you going to go about doing it? at the office? or take home?
are you trying to upgrade the whole rig? or some parts specifically?

if possible, download a 3rd party oc program. and crank the voltage up :D

oh yeah...here's some more ways not involving opening case

1) like said before, OC the computer till it dies
2) turn the little switch on the psu to 220v...won't turn on anymore =)
3) like said before, flash some random bios onto it
4) If it has video card, flash a supported bios with insane core/mem clocking
5) OC vid card till it dies

Ideas involving opening case

1) take the fan connector out for the cpu fan, do some intense work until cpu fries, plug it back in and tell your boss your computer just shut down randomly.
2) mess with the jumpers on your harddrive
3) steal the cpu =)

some more fun but crazy ideas
1) cut a random wire coming out of your psu
2) More bios messing around with, change bootp priority
3) put some thermal paste on the motherboard

or how about you not destroy property that isn't yours and just accept the fact that your computer isn't the biggest and badest, but is sufficent to your needs.

I bet after you do this, you will STILL wonder why the company is stingy on Christmas bonuses and gives out weak pay rases next quarter.

Well, one thing u could do is ask one of the dumber co-workers in your building to talk in your office/cubicle/whatever, then trip over them in an 'accident', then knock over the computer and put a major dent into one of the more vital back ports.
