is it possible to OC this core using LGA 115 mobo and a stock 600w psu?

cooling aint a problem cause im working in a room with a/c

yes but cooling would still be a problem and you can't overclock it enough to get a real benefit. Sandy bridge is known to mess up when you overclock through the FSB, and since the multiplier is locked that is the only way to do it. You might at most be albe to get it to 3.5 or 3.6, it's not a very noticeable difference

yeah, no point in overclocking bud, my 2100 wont budge, and neither will anyone elses. Not worth the time, you won't see a difference in a .2Ghz increase.

its a pity then, by the way im planning to buy a new mobo, can anyone give a specific brand that can accommodate my i3? couple of months from now i'll probably change my core into i5, but now i'll try to focus on upgrading my mobo, gpu and psu.

any mobo, look for a z77 shipset though, and the best brands are Gigabyte, MSI, ASRock, and EVGA

Fixed :)

There is nothing wrong with Z68 either by the way, you don't actually lose anything substantial seeing as how you have integrated GPU support, Sandy and Ivy Bridge support, PCIe 3.0 support , SATA 3 and USB 3 support, RAID support and UEFI. With the last 4, check the specific model, the majority have support for it but not all

actually your quote didn't fix it, still said shipset :P

And true, but it's nice to get the newest hardware even if it isn't really an upgrade, but if they cost the same, why not?

Oh, i see, i thought about leaving them out but their products in general aren't bad, as long as you don't get a DOA or screw it up somehow.

Which will inevitably happen at some point because the build quality and quality control is appauling
