weird that my i5 2550k shows up as i5 2600k.. maybe core temp needs to update their stuff?

So does mine.

Maybe it's a locked i7, who knows.

Edit: One of my emulators reports it having 8 threads, but that's probably software related.

Wait, there's a 2550K now? Have I been living under a rock? In any case it may be a detection issue with the program or the chip was a 2600K but didn't pass whatever binning test and was sold as a 2550K instead.

like said above. maybe it was an i7 2600k, but with the hyper threading disabled for one reason or another, since its the same clock speed, and quad core like the i7, but with no hyper threading, like the i5, hence, a i5 2550k.

Yeah, its just 3.4ghz instead of 3.3ghz. Maybe more stable too.

And no igpu too. i think they just had so many chips with malfunctioning gpus they just decided to disable it and add some extra speed since there would be less heat, but that's just a guess.

Really? I cant find anything about it. If you found something, please post links.

You really think Intel will make a whole new wafer run just for a 2550. I dont think so. They will just use all those stacks of 2500/2600 with bad GPU or Hyper Threading. Just disable the GPU and or Hyper Threading on the 2600 and sell them off. I would say alot of the 2500 are 2600 with Hyper Threading bad and just disabled it.
