Hi guys,

How do you exactly measure the overall CPU Temperature?

I have i5-3570K, but it measures by 4 individual cores. Should I be taking the average or take the highest value as the average CPU Temperature?

Thanks in advance,

The temps from your 4 cores will not be very different, if you want to know your max temps idle/load -> just take the hottest core.

I have a range of 22C to 33C for all 4 cores when idle.

When under load, I have a range of 61C to 69C for all cores (only one of them is high, and rest are very low).

So in short, only one core (happens to be Core #1) that's always higher by at least 8 degrees C than other 3 cores which are similar to each other.

You got turbo mode on? Disable that and look again.

the turbo mode overclocks 1 or 2 cores to improve performance. You can better oc it yourselve to 3.9 ghz with all cores oc'ed.
So that's why 1 core is hotter.

Yea, I went into the bios and set it to manual. Then I changed the multiplier, but I made it so that the changes are made to all cores equally, but I guess it's not happening. So does that imply the overclock is being applied to only one core? :S

How do I ensure that all cores are properly implemented with the OC and where do I go to do it? I seriously cannot find it in the Asus BIOS mode :(

EDIT: I also assume that by properly OCing ALL of my cores, would seriously boost my gaming performance then?

how long have you had this chip? I'd call intel and see if they can get you a replacement, otherwise i'd re-apply thermal paste and see if there was an air-bubble or something causing it, but that's definitely not normal, should only be a 1 or 2 degree difference max.

I've had this for almost 2 months now. But instead of the air bubble issue, do you think smileman is correct though? I've made sure to apply the thermal paste correctly.

How can I printscreen using CPU-Z, Core Temp... etc to ensure that the OC is being done properly to all cores?

If you oc'ed manually, the turbo mode will disable automatically.
You're using some program all the time? It could be that that program locks his operations on 1 thread.

No I cannot think of one program that runs constantly. On average, I always see one core being exceptionally higher than the rest.

I'm reading it off from Core Temp and also the RealTemp.

The score on my benchmark is good, also your 3dmarkscore is normal. But it's not a problem with that. Also, your temps are okay.

Remarking johnny's previous reply saying how the variance in temperature should only be around 1 to 2 degrees celsius. Mine is at least 8, which I probably believe that it may affect the durability of my CPU in the long run?

He also mentioned about getting a replacement, and I seriously don't think air bubble is an issue.

Also, how do I check if the system is forcing most of the tasks onto one core only/
