i7 or i5?

So ive been looking at upgrading and i7 is a lot more expensive but will last longer but is there a significant gap between i7 and i5 that will cause me to have to replace and make the i7 a better investment?

unless doing video creation or en/decoding then the i5 is just as fast as the i7, since those are the only programs that take advantage of the extra threads on the i7.

I love my i5. 4.4ghz at only 1.26v.

My video isn't the best (though still awesome) and I can play anything right now on max settings and the system doesn't even begin to sweat.
