IBUYPOWER disaster... what now... need a good pc

thanks, do you know if the XPS GEN 5 is hard to upgrade the psu and mobo like I have seen others post about DELL. Or is the XPS GEN 5 an exception?

Kind of worried now

I'm sure it will be the same as all the other Dells. The RAM and gfx. cards will be easy to update, but with me, I've had problems. Once, I tried to update the PSU, my new one had a switch on it, while the one that the Dell came with didn't, so, there was only a hole in the back of the case for where the plug goes, no other open space for the switch to go, so I had to take a hack saw and saw off part of the case so it would fit. That was annoying. Then, when I decides to buy a new mobo, I went to put it in, and boom, the holes in the back of the case didn't line up with my new mobo. So I had to buy a new case.....

DAMN.

I really want a tv tuner and all on this pc, so I want Win. Media Center but if I go through HP the best video card I can get is the 6600 and through dell I get the 6800.

I dont know if I should cancel my Dell order and go through HP and get the 6600 and thenbuy a 6800 or 6800 Ultra and replace it, but then i would be spending about 300 more...

AH, the decisions...

If anyone else knows if the GEN systems are differnt I would appreciate it.

--> So skidud you had to take verything out of the dell and place in a new case? Or did you trash the dell?

I took everything out of my Dell and put in in a new case, and then threw out the old Dell case.

As for that graphics card thing, I'd get a crappy onboard video or something and then order a nice gfx. card off of newegg or something. That way you can just turn off onboard video and use the nice card.
