Greetings all,

It's been a while....I am using Win 7 (32byt) and have a folder that I have placed multiple mp3 files into same (and the files don't have to be mp3).....
I have done the same in folders on a flash drive (using 7) and have the same sustaining issue below -

As in "XP", I am able to move around any icon in the file folder to ANY place however, when I try to do that in "7", it is not possible......The icon(s) want to "align to grid so-to-speak) Same happens on a flash drive......

HOW do I get around this?......I know in xp, there is a selection of "align to grid" but, nothing like that in 7....

Any assistance is appreciated!...Thanks!

THANKS FOR THE REPLY.......

...........Nope, no good....I know where to find it and how to do it but, it is not there when r-clicking......(see pict).....

Nope....see pict...not listed......There is another "more" that I clicked on and it has 50+ listings but nothing about what you have stated...I used win 10 simply as a test but, I am using "7"..........Uninterested in "10"......

You'll need to edit the registry cause MS disabled it inside folders on windows 7 I guess. Follow the guide here
.

The align to grid is only available on the desktop icons not folder icons by default.

I will read....see what happens....do a complete clone of my HD before I do anything.........The "7" file system is ntsf(?) so, I may take a flash drive over to an xp computer to see if it'll read the files (mp3) but, I doubt it........So, this work-a-round will enable me to place any icon in a folder anyplace in that folder and in any order, right?......THANKS FOR THE REPLY(ies).....

THANKS FOR THE REPLY(IES).......I cloned my hard drive overnight and did this tweak a few minutes ago....

This WORKS spectacularly!
